Wedding Invitations and Papers and Letterpress, oh my!

Photos courtesy of Paper Source

I have always been fascinated with great patterns and designs, and my recent trip to Paper Source inspired me to chat about the awesome things you can do with your wedding paper needs (invites, save the date cards, thank you notes, table cards, etc). One thing brides & grooms may not realize is that your save the date card or wedding invitation sets the tone of your upcoming wedding day. It’s your first impression so why not make it memorable! Wedding Favors – boxes

Photos courtesy of Paper Source

Aren’t those favor boxes adorable?! I was in Paper Source (Chicago) a few days ago purchasing more envelopes and paper for my photo info packets and came across these super cute pillow boxes! Paper Source one of the cutest stores for anything related to paper. I thought these would be great to add candy or special momentos for your wedding guests, not to mention a creative way to decorate your tabletops! What a way to bring vibrant color and design sense. Boxes seen above are called “pillow boxes”, “take out boxes”. They have a couple more styles like pyramids and flip envelopes that could work too. Check out my post about wedding favor ideas too! If you can’t find a Paper Source location in your area, shop online!

I Love Bostons!

Pet Portraits, San Francisco — Edyta @ 8:12 PM

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo Photography

You are looking at my little boston terrier nephew named Bowser! (aka Bowsie Wowsie) I held a mini photo session of Bowser while visiting my brother and his girlfriend in San Francisco a few months back. What a special pup! I actually received a video of Bowser the other day proving his “sit, lay down, and roll over” routine, so cute! He is much bigger these days, running free on the beaches of the west coast. Isn’t it great to have the memories of your loved pets at all stages in their life? Our pets have become such an important part of our lives and it’s incredible to be able to look back at photos that captured the little moments. More to come on pet photography!

Trends of 2008 – Bridal Flower Bouquets

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo Photography

I love love love flowers (especially peonies)! They are my favorite detail to photograph at weddings (as you can see in the 3 flower collages!) and give off such an aura about the overall day. Recently, a read a little tid bit about the brides bouquet…the brides make-up for the day should match her bouquet style. I would love to hear what make-up artists think about this idea! Essentially, the style of your bouquet (dramatic, romantic, flirty, natural, etc) says a lot about who you are and what you are portraying on your wedding day, so it makes total sense that it could compliment your make-up, such as your lip gloss or eye shadow. New trend of 2008?! (more…)

Wedding Favors – Adding a personal touch

Favors, Food, Wedding Advice — Edyta @ 3:16 PM

Photos courtesy of Martha Stewart

Every so often I get asked by brides or other wedding vendors what makes a wedding unique (or stand out) to me. It was always hard to answer because weddings tend to follow a normal routine but every wedding is beautiful in it’s own way. However, I can say one thing (and I’m sure most vendors agree) that when the bride & groom add personal touches to shine who they are as a couple, it creates some of the strongest memories from the day! Wedding favors are one of the best ways to say THANK YOU to your friends and family in a personal way! (more…)

Trends of 2008 – Bridesmaid Dresses

Fashion, Wedding Trends 2008 — Edyta @ 6:33 PM

Photos courtesy of Priscilla of Boston

I recently saw the movie 27 Dresses with a couple of girlfriends! If you’re looking for a feel-good movie (not to mention super chick flick) then this is one to catch! Able to relate to the idea of being a bridesmaid (just last September) it was hard to accept the extreme dress fashion that the movie showcased, but of course it was all in good fun. I thought maybe it would be good to share what’s really hot this year in bridesmaid dresses!! Not to mention it’s always good to keep your wedding day team happy! (more…)

To Tip or Not to Tip – on your wedding day.

Planning, Wedding Advice — Edyta @ 4:30 PM

It seems that this subject is very unclear to brides and grooms, including wedding vendors. I recently came across a discussion board where brides were giving their tip suggestions-there was even exact percentages given for each vendor used. While this subject can be a little sensitive due to money worries, but let me make a suggestion. (more…)

Brieanne & Brandon’s Real Wedding – St. Helena

Fall is my absolute favorite season! Sure, my birthday kick starts it off but the colors of the leaves and the crisp temperatures outside make it cozy. Brieanne and Brandon’s autumn wedding in St. Helena (about 1.5 hours north of San Francisco) was a perfect event to photograph in so many ways. Their friends and family had a great sense of humor and care for one another. The weather was to die for and what could be more romantic than a wedding in wine country?! Check out more of their wedding photography… (more…)

Kristin and Matt held a wonderful San Francisco wedding! Located at Hotel Vitale in the embarcadero, their ceremony and reception had a city spark to it! I love photographing outdoor weddings, especially in the San Francisco summer fog! The overcast skies brings such a glow to the air and really sets a romantic mood. Check out more of their urban wedding! (more…)

Winnie & Dennis’s Real Wedding – San Francisco

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo Photography

Winnie and Dennis held a simple, formal and elegant wedding at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco. The whole day felt feminine and calm (which is exactly how I would describe Winnie!). Both families were extremely happy to be sharing the wedding day together – the first wedding of 2 or 3 if I remember correctly. They were holding ceremonies overseas as well. Aren’t they gorgeous?!
