Happy Friday!  I’m very excited to have the owners of Vixen Beauty guest blog today!  If you haven’t gathered from my past posts already about how important professionally styled makeup and hair is for your wedding day…well, today is the day that you do!  It will make a HUGE difference for your wedding photos, huge.  So without further ado…Vanessa and Melissa of Vixen Beautyvixen beauty

Vixen Beauty (located in Chicago) is a company that believes in empowering women.  When a woman feels beautiful she exudes confidence.  We have a personal investment in educating women on the importance of maintaining their physical appearance and we would like the world to know despite popular belief, women can embrace their beauty and be equally intelligent.  Vanessa and I are licensed cosmetologists with 14 years of experience.  We have traveled cross-country representing high-end cosmetic companies.  We have preformed on-site makeovers, fashion shows, film festivals and weddings nationwide.  We thought we would answer some of the common make up and hair questions out there…

Why is professional hair and makeup so important?

-This is your day to shine!

-It’s an investment and will create a flawless look in photos that lasts throughout the day and lifetime.

Is there a difference between going to a salon or having a makeup & hair team come to me?

Having the makeup and hair team at your getting ready location is a stress free way to enjoy your wedding day.

I’m trying to decide between hiring a professional or buying my own makeup to do myself, advice?

The difference between a bride applying her own makeup vs. a professional makeup artist is the product knowledge.  The makeup artist has the extensive background in using profession products that will ensure a flawless application and long-lasting wear.

I’m getting married outdoors in the summer – should I have my hair up or down?

That decision is entirely up to you, however, an up-style would last longer through the summer humidity.

Should my bridesmaids have professional makeup and hair done?

Here are some of the reasons why we feel bridesmaids should get professional hair and makeup done:

-It’s a bonding experience with your wedding party.

-Takes the stress out of getting ready.

-Hair and makeup will last throughout the day and create a polished and flawless photo-finish look.

When hiring a makeup and hair artist – what should I be looking for?

Research their background and ask for pictures of their work.  You should always receive a consultation prior to your wedding day (Vixen Beauty offers complimentary consultations).

What are the trends in makeup and hair for 2009?

Makeup – a rich velvet lip color and a simple clean eye with full lashes.

Hair – Simple but elegant, a side swept bang with beautiful loose curls pinned to one side.
