Happy Happy Holidays!!  I hope everyone enjoys the time with their family and friends – it’s been an incredible year!  Best wishes to you in the New Year!

I’m headed out of town for a few days to enjoy the family, but I wanted to leave you with a little bit of something…COOKIES!  Thanks to Dana for giving me this recipe – it’s my go-to cookie :)  Gooey Butter Cookies (sounds better when you add the word ‘ooey’ in front) were my staple this year for presents and a friend’s cookie swap.  I added a twist this year…color!

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, 1/4 tsp. vanilla, 1 egg, 1 – 8oz cream cheese, 1 box butter-recipe yellow cake mix (I have tried the butter recipe chocolate, it’s scrumptious!), Powdered sugar, Parchment paper or nonstick baking spray.

Let cream cheese and butter come to room temperature.  Beat butter, vanilla, egg and cream cheese until light and fluffy.  Mix in dry cake mix.  Cover and chill for 30 minutes.  (if adding food coloring, add to wet ingredients first)  Preheat oven to 350.  Light coat cookie sheet with spray or paper.  Drop dough by spoonful in bowl of powdered sugar, rolling into balls and coating dough.  Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.  Yield:  4 dozen cookies (if made small, same size as seen above).
