Paper Demos on a Snowy Saturday

Welcome Monday! And wow, do I have the case of the Mondays. We had family in town for a last minute visit this weekend, always nice to see them! Lauren (my man’s sister – visit her etsy shop, Staunch knits) joined me on my Saturday adventure. Over the snow and through the blizzard, to the Paper Source Wedding Workshops we go…

The demos were all about diy ideas for your wedding. The highlight was the heat embossing technique. Using a rubber stamp, clear or colored ink, embossing powder, and a heat tool we created this glossy pretty print! The print on the blue/lavender was created with clear ink and clear powder…after the heat tool is used to set the powder, the stamped area turns glossy, darker and rises slightly. It works on most papers and fabrics! You can use a colored ink too and buy everything you need in-store or online.
I went to see the centerpieces demos, but most of them involved favor designs and place card designs…not so much paper flowers, etc like I had imagined. Below, a demonstrator shows the heat embossing technique again after rubber stamping the flower pattern multiple times. She then used the paper source envelope template to cut out the liner for the envelope, adding a special detail :)

i looooooooove envelope liners! we did those for our invites…time consuming, but oh-so-pretty! you just have to put thought into how you seal it so the liner doesn’t get ripped out before anyone sees it…

i loved the envelope liners as well! the liners seemed pretty sturdy, she used double sided tape to seal the top portion. nothing on the bottom – said it was not necessary. but depending on how packed the envelope is, i could see it causing a teeny problem.
