I feel like I should add the word ‘budget’ to all future trends of 2009 posts!  Yes, we are all aware of what the economy is doing right now, it’s not good.  But that still doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy an incredible honeymoon!!  You just have to be smart about it and plan accordingly…road trip anyone?

It is still possible for you to go those exotic honeymoon destinations!  Things to keep in mind when planning: off season rates for flights and hotels, currency exchange rates, and reevaluate what your true needs are aka activities, food, accommodations, etc.  Trust me, you don’t NEED everything :) Read Honeymoon Basics for more guidance.

Popular destinations can often mean higher prices and more people.  Many times if you look at planning your honeymoon as a vacation, you might find lower rates.  Being flexible on location and time of travel will offer more budget-friendly options. Read about The 50 Best Honeymoons.

Many couples have opted for long weekend trips or just traveling in the continental US.  I love the idea of bed and breakfasts. You can find an intimate bungalow in just about every state in the US – next to a beach or in a snowy forest.  Save the cash now and opt for a bigger honeymoon at a later date.  Here’s a list of top bed and breakfast’s in 2008-2009.  Jackson Court is a favorite bed and breakfast in San Francisco, Wicker Park Inn in Chicago and Fleur-de-Lys in St. Louis.  Safe travels!
