DIY 3D 30th Birthday Invitations

It’s August already, can you believe it?! This month, my Jman turns the big 3-0! I am throwing him a Mad Men style bash at a swanky, vintage and super teeny restaurant/lounge in downtown San Francisco. We have family and friends coming in town to join the rest of our SF folks to celebrate in style (no longer a surprise ;). While I love saving a tree, this occasion seemed perfect for a little diy paper invitation! Check out the rest…

3D is everywhere!! A couple months ago, I found a 3D drawing pad at Paper Source with 50 sheets (which now you can find just about anywhere). While there, I picked up A9 red envelopes and gray/gravel flat cards. The flat cards worked perfect as a firm backing for the super thin 3D paper. And since the kit only came with 1 pair of 3d glasses, I found a bulk of logo-free and cheap glasses at Ebay!
After designing in Photoshop, I separated and ink-jet printed on each sheet. Then using an x-acto knife cut the white edges so the sheets could fit on the gravel flat cards. Adhered with glue stick, voila! Super excited!!!
Btw, what color of shoe does a lady wear with navy, red and cream??????
Love the graph paper + MadMen icons! the 3d glasses are such cool idea.

Cool idea! And… for the lady, this “porcini” shade of shoes could be perfect:
