I’m back in Chicago! After a mini vacation to Missouri for a friend’s wedding and some extra time off visiting old friends, I am back to the blog! Thanks for being patient! Wonder what I did during some of that time off? Baby portraits! My friends Ashley and Amos have two very cute little girls, I just had to photograph them! Ayla has grown so much and it was my first time meeting little Adalyn. Photographing children in their natural environment of toys and family is absolutely the best way of capturing their personalities! Check out more images… (more…)

Take a sneak peek at Traci and Marty’s wedding photography! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I can’t say that enough about Traci and Marty. Held at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Brentwood, TN – you couldn’t have asked for a better day of weather, incredible photography light and the ones they love. Can I just say that when I was prepping for this sneak peek, tears were rolling as I remembered how sweet Traci and Marty were with one another. It makes complete sense why they have such perfect family and friends. Check out some of the wedding photography… (more…)

Good morning everyone! It’s been a few days since I’ve been able to post…wonder why?! I’ve been honky tonkin in Nashville photographing a destination wedding! It was my first time in Nashville and even though I was only there for a few days, I got to experience the best parts with an incredible group of people. Things I learned: “buggies” are also known as shopping carts, everyone is extremely friendly, and “honky tonkin” is the act of hopping around from music venues and bars listening to the bands. I can’t wait to show you the wedding photography from Traci and Marty’s special day, it’s absolutely breathtaking!

Tuesday was the 3rd time that I’ve photographed the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra! And you thought I just photographed weddings huh? This time was super special because they played for an audience of children from the surrounding Chicago public schools at the South Shore Cultural Center. It was an interactive experience with the conductor asking questions and the kids responding, with a few pieces played in between. Reminded me of my 6 years of playing violin as a child :) It’s sad to hear about schools eliminating or cutting budgets for the arts in schools, I feel it’s incredibly important to involve kids in the arts and humanities. So I was honored to be a part of it. And let me tell you the youth involved in CYSO, sound amazing, extremely talented!! (more…)

Hope everyone had a great weekend! The highlight of mine was Liz and Mike’s engagement photography session! They were extremely friendly and such a pleasure to hang out with. It was a bit chilly out but they stuck it out and made the best of it without a doubt! I think at one point I asked Liz to make a serious face for a shot and the closest look I got was ‘blue steel’…they were both ear to ear smiles and so much fun with each other!! I loved it! I’m super excited to be shooting their wedding in October, it was an absolute blast spending time with them. Check out more of their images… (more…)

Meet Ebi! For the past few days I was kitty-sitting Ebi for a good friend and neighbor. I noticed that they didn’t have any photos of Ebi around so I decided to have a photo shoot and surprise them with photos around the apartment! I think it’s essential to document loved ones in your life, including your pets. Professional pet photography has really come far and is a huge trend right now. Many (like myself) consider their pets as their own children so every moment is precious. Check out “I love Bostons” for some of my dog photos! I highly recommend having professional photos taken…this way you can be included in them as well! (more…)

Great news! After a phone call from a friend, I found out that one of my images is published in the newest issue of The Knot magazine. This is a special issue as it’s the ‘best of 2008′, where it sums up the best wedding vendors around the country. They also include the ‘best of your local area’ voted by real brides so you can see the ratings for vendors in your area. My image is featured as a ‘trend alert’ for art gallery reception venues located in the midwest; The Randall Gallery in St. Louis. The particular wedding that the image came from is Tom and Sam’s wedding, which was also published in The Knot Missouri/Kansas 2007 issue. I have only done 2 weddings in the St. Louis area (Stephanie & Jim) but they seem to be a huge success!
The issue is on stands now until October!

I promised on my “town of toasted ravioli post” to display some wedding photos from my trip down to St. Louis for Stephanie and Jim’s wedding! I’ve been told by several people that I must of brought spring with me that weekend (mid 70s and sunny) since they had a huge snowstorm right after I left! But I think it was just the love in the air from Stephanie and Jim :) I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to work with or a more beautiful and relaxed day. You guys truly made my work day easy! Super fun, sweet, and totally in love are just some of the few ways to describe them. Check out more of their images and details…. (more…)

What an incredible past weekend! I went to St. Louis to photograph Stephanie & Jim’s wedding and couldn’t have asked for a better weekend! More to come on their incredible wedding in another post. Not only did I enjoy my favorite St. Louis classic of toasted ravioli on Friday, but the weather was gorgeous all 3 days! It was great to see Jared’s (my boyfriend) family as well. The weather so beautiful – talking mid 70s and sunny – that we decided to head out on Sunday to play! As you see in the photos above, it was a bit windy :) (more…)

You are looking at my little boston terrier nephew named Bowser! (aka Bowsie Wowsie) I held a mini photo session of Bowser while visiting my brother and his girlfriend in San Francisco a few months back. What a special pup! I actually received a video of Bowser the other day proving his “sit, lay down, and roll over” routine, so cute! He is much bigger these days, running free on the beaches of the west coast. Isn’t it great to have the memories of your loved pets at all stages in their life? Our pets have become such an important part of our lives and it’s incredible to be able to look back at photos that captured the little moments. More to come on pet photography!
