DIY — Edyta @ 1:10 PM

Whew! This past weekend my bff flew into SF for a girlie bachelorette weekend! I was a bit disgusted when hunting for fun props for her to wear on her big night out…even searched Etsy. So what did this maid-of-honor-who-loves-crafting do?! I made one of course! I wanted it to scream fun and girlie not veils and body parts (catching my drift). Here’s a rough and quick how-to for a diy bachelorette badge! (more…)

DIY – Leah’s Surprise 30th Balloon Birthday Party!

DIY — Edyta @ 8:20 PM

Woweee my friend Leah turned thirty! It’s the busiest time of year for weddings/photoshoots and there’s lots of celebrating as well! So very excited to FINALLY talk about this surprise birthday party that I’ve been co-planning for months! We just returned this past weekend from quite the little diy bash. My bff from college, Leah, lives 2000 miles away from me, and she thought I had to photograph a wedding on her 30th birthday. Little did she know that her fiance and I had a little something up our sleeves! She had no idea that my man, myself and her Minnesota based family were going to be there with tons of food, diy decor and cheer! It all started with an invitation… (more…)

Table Number Ideas & Inspirations

Decor,DIY,Wedding Trends 2011 — Edyta @ 2:30 PM

Seems like a minor detail right? Definitely not. While it’s not a make or break-it project for your party or wedding, it can make a difference in your event photos. Whether you’re the creative type (haha) or not, this is one easy way to spruce up your table centerpiece from the mundane (and distracting really) paper/photo on a tall metal holder. No matter what your budget, table numbers and cards can be cute, themed and add dimension to your centerpiece. They should be a compliment to the centerpiece not a distraction. There are hundreds of ideas so start at the Pinterest link above and check out my favorite real wedding table number here (Italian house numbers). Feel free to share your ideas!

Last weekend was delightfully eventful! I flew to Chicago to photograph a fun wedding and threw our dear friends the best.baby.shower.ever! (Remember their diy paper pop-upĀ invitations?) I’m still bowing down to the best little helper friends a girl could ask for! Without your help, this could not have happened. The day was full of love, laughter, gourmet potluck goodies, handmade details and rain while cozing up fireside at Suzanne Cummings Flowers. Nat and Jeff, Cheers to your first little baby kiwi girl! You and her will be loved forever, from Auntie Edyta. (more…)

Bay Area Weddings! Vintage Decor Rentals from One True Love!

vintage decor wedding rentals

Yay!! I was ecstatic when Amanda emailed me announcing her new venture! We know how lovely vintage is, but we also know how painful it is for a pocketbooks, especially when planning a wedding. While services have been popping up all over the country, the Bay Area can finally say it has an official vintage rental place for weddings! (one would think we’d have this already huh?) Be sure to check out the site! Words from Amanda,

“As a bride planning her own vintage-inspired wedding, I was frustrated by the lack of resources available for me in the Bay Area. After collecting vintage furniture and decor for years, I knew where to go to find awesome vintage pieces, I just didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for decor that I was only going to use for a few hours (turns out I have an obsession with antique farm tables, and those don’t come cheap!) One day I thought to myself: “why isn’t there someone who rents this stuff out?!” Realizing that other brides were probably feeling the same way, I decided to share my collection with other Bay Area brides…and thus One True Love Vintage Rentals was born!

As the first Bay Area company to specialize in vintage furniture and decor rentals for weddings, we’re incredibly excited to provide local brides with an easy and affordable way to add swoon-worthy vintage decor to their weddings, bridal showers, and engagement shoots. We offer everything from farm tables and steamer trunks to typewriters and skeleton keys…anything that is beautifully worn with a little rust or chipped paint! In addition to renting out fabulous furniture and accessories we also offer custom searches, styling, delivery, and set-up services – we’re looking to be a one-stop shop for Northern California vintage-loving brides!”

Lots of furniture, dishes, chairs, knick-knacks….basically anything you could imagine, Found has it! This business concept really makes sense, and I am happily reminded of that on a daily basis. Hmmmm, ideas are rolling….

Hope everyone enjoyed their extended weekend! I’m super excited to FINALLY show you the diy pop-up baby shower invitations I made (with the help of custom silhouettes by Le Papier Studio and modern calligraphy by Sincerely, Dapper) for our special friends. I’ll be hosting the event in Chicago on a Sunday after I photograph a fantastic winter wedding ;) Being our friends first little one (nicknamed Baby Kiwi), I really wanted to make it memorable with a special theme: Polar Pop-Up Potluck! (hint hint, it’s in Chicago during February). The whole thing will be diy at a modern floral shop space. Yes, I’ll have plenty of pics to show you next month, lots and lots of details! For now, take a peek of the invitation (resources listed at the end)! (more…)
