Terri & Adam’s Handmade Book Themed Winter Wedding

Chicago,Edyta's Real Weddings — Edyta @ 4:31 AM

snow confetti wedding

Terri and Adam – what can I say?! Incredible energy and just plain FUN! Remember their urban engagement session here? It’s not often that I hope for snow in Chicago but this time I begged mother nature and nada. At least my flight to Chicago was without delay, but it was sad to see all the snow from Snowpocalypse melted. It’s not everyday you have a couple that wants to play in the snow on their wedding day :) So instead we threw confetti, enjoyed Montrose Harbor and continued our adventure in the nooks and crannies of Architectural Artifacts antiques! Thank you Amy for your creative eye. Now let’s dive into this periwinkle blue and red color goodness wedding!

Kristen & Gene’s Real Modern Wedding with a Retro hint

bride groom lollipop

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo

Happy almost weekend! You remember Kristen and Gene’s Sunday Stroll? Their recent and lovely downtown Chicago wedding was a classic elegance with a hint of retro. Thankfully, the big chance of rain never happened (thanks mother nature!) but the wind gusts took over. But if that was our biggest challenge, fashion wind with a plush veil…well I’ll take it! Super sweet couple with incredible charm! Big thanks to my right-hand photo lady Amy. Enjoy the sneak!the wit getting ready photos

Marilyn M. meets Scarlett J. Kristen – simply gorgeous! She had some inspiring pictures of Marilyn for her hair and makeup stylist to reference. I couldn’t believe the similarities!

Gene was simply speechless when he saw her for the first time. And our wind adventure begins!

Kristen wore a charm bracelet and attached to it was her late grandparents wedding rings along with a custom engraved charm of their initials. Gene’s cuff links (a gift from Kristen) matched her charm with their wedding date engraved on one link and the other with their initials.

The theme of their invitations was the Chicago Theater sign…which you could also see through the window during their ceremony.

Their wedding took place 2 days after the official start of fall – warm apple cider, caramel apples and white pumpkins! My favorite was their handmade, brewed beer as favors – Hitched Ale! I enjoyed one afterwards and it was YUMMY!

Caroline & Andres’s Real Dreamy DIY Beltane Ranch Wedding

beltane ranch wedding

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo

Dreamy, dreamy, dreamy!! Caroline and Andres’s wedding was simply that. All the elements of a perfect wedding day mashed together and  the best part – these two were just beaming at one another! Best yet, my dream of photographing at Beltane Ranch in Sonoma with the most fantastical couple came true. This handmade-with-love wedding will have you drooling over the gorgeous couple, family and friends along with the diy details. Big thanks to my lovely right-hand photo lady, Jenna! Enjoy the sneak peek!

All the decor details were handmade by the couple and their friends & family. I love a group effort!

I’m such a huge fan of the blush/nude/cream colors! So feminine and pretty, not to mention so flattering on all skin tones! Good looking group, huh?

So many incredible details! My favorite was Table #1 (the couple’s table) with Caroline’s grandmother’s vintage, floral china. Oh and another favorite (haha) was their initials + hearts on the dinner napkins! Caroline pointed out the double entendre for California love ;)

Cute factoid: Andres is a twin and their (along with their sister-in-law) birthday was on the wedding day! So there was a surprise birthday song & cake blow-out! They 1st danced to a song written and performed by Andres’s sister, who is an extremely talented Chilean musician. Goosebumps! And apparently, table 12 was the table to be ;)

The night ended with “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond and lots of family hugging ;) Caroline and Dre – Thank you for such a lovely day! It was beyond perfection.

Hannah & Chris’s Just Married Session Down Memory Lane

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo

As promised, a sneak peek of Hannah & Chris’s just married session! Busy bees planning a wedding and trying to coordinate travel, we decided that instead of an engagement session that a just married session would be just as fabulous! The best part was that it also served as a tour of their favorites spots to hang out growing up. I feel privileged to become invited to share these memories with my couples. Ahhh, the gushies. Alright, enough chat! Follow me to their favorite teen hangout (they both hung out there but didn’t know it!), her father’s labor of love and a popular chit-chat spot for best friends.

Hannah & Chris’s Real Warehouse Gallery Wedding

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo

What do you get with a Midwestern couple living in LA and owning a music licensing shop called Ghost Town? FUN! What do you get with a Chicagoland childhood, hanging out in the same circle of friends growing up but not knowing it? Sweet Hannah and Chris love. It may have taken years for them to find each other right under their noses but it seems as if they’ve known each other for a lifetime already. This is a doozy of a sneak peek, so much so that their Just Married session will be a separate feature this week! Also, a big thank you to my right-hand photo woman Jessie. Enjoy this Chicago wedding sneak peek story…

They each had co-ed bridal parties – bestest friends and family.

Hannah’s childhood home’s address is 1028 and they wed at Gallery 1028. Most of the details were designed and put together by friends and family. Modern, minimal, streamlined with a hint of handmade. I loved the typewriter guestbook!

Hilarious toasts of childhood stories and family memories – loved hearing about Hannah’s father’s love for 60′s music. 1st dance and family dance!

Wow, it’s Wednesday already! Headed out-of-state again tomorrow for another wedding this weekend. I’m just all over the place! Denise and Dave – what a couple of love birds on their magical day. The midwest locusts hummed all day & night and families were as happy as can be. I was smitten with the whole day – their 1800′s Chicagoland home, handmade decor details, absolutely photogenic couple (although they were worried about being awkward in front of the camera!) and lively guests. I’m going to stop chatting away and let you know that you’ll need 2 cups of coffee for these images ;) Enjoy the sneak peek!

A couple special details to mention: Denise is a twin. Her and her twin sister (maid of honor) wore matching purple/gold rings that their mother gave them. Their mother is also a twin so the rings were extremely special as they were worn by her and her sister who passed. You will not believe there were 3 generations of twins there! One of the ring bearers and the flower girl (Denise’s niece & nephew), twins! As a surprise, Denise wore the special locket that Dave gave her when they were dating.

Yesterday, I photographed an elopement in Napa and was lucky enough to have the rain let up to get some gorgeous shots. I just HAD to post this photo of the bride’s bouquet…all white orchids. They draped oh-so romantically from her hands…this is all the peek you get for now!

Elizabeth & Justin’s Real Elopement – St. Helena

real wedding vineyard wine country moss

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo Photography

I realize that most of the country is getting hit by snow but here in SF it sure feels like spring! Spring cleaning itch! This week I had the pleasure of photographing a very charming small wedding affair in St. Helena (just north of Napa). I have to admit, while it’s easy to label it an elopement because this couple whisked away to wine country from Texas…they did bring their immediate family. Someone want to help me coin a new term for the ‘inbetween’ elopement and wedding?! In the meantime, these images will give you the spring that you need! Stunning!

I had a few minutes to capture Elizabeth getting ready with her mom. Always sweet moments.

Elizabeth pinned 2 family lockets to her bouquet. I fell in love with the hint of history in the day.

A warm sun glow, violinist, tree perfumed air and their closest family’s happiness equals the perfect ceremony. Justin had a couple teary moments, super sweet.

The most charming details! Elizabeth’s mom brought the New Testament bible passed down in her family, which was signed by each couple on their wedding day since the 1940s. Nothing beats Grandpa using an iphone :)

It was my first time visiting Meadowood Napa Valley and certainly NOT my last! The lodges are all tucked into the hills, and the rain that we’ve had made everything so green and mossy. Amazing grounds, you have to visit for the perfect getaway!
