Are We a Wedding Photography Match?

Photos: Josh Gruetzmacher

Happy Booking Season! It’s here and it’s in full swing. Hiring a wedding photographer can be quite a drag. Websites/blogs until your eyes pop, chatty consultations galore that make your throat sore, contracts, albums, who’s available/who’s not. It’s like being on first dates over and over! So I’m going to make it easy on you and let you get to know me better through my own online personal ad because you already know I take photos… (more…)

Rebecca & David’s Rainy yet Cheery Cornerstone Sonoma Wedding

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo

Warning: soggy yet adorable wedding beat the rain with a ton of cheer!! Sure, we could have let this completely outdoor wedding lose against the rain.  But my oh-so cute couple, Rebecca and David (remember his Whole Foods Parking Lot hilarity?), kept our spirits high with constant jokes, laughter and mucho dancing while internally we were all scrambling ;) I’ll be honest, it was my last wedding of the season, and the rain definitely had me a bit deflated. But no, the lovebirds kept going – game for whatever we could do and let me tell you….this wedding is beyond bright on all levels! A wee-bit bohemian mixed with rustic handmade details tossed with modern flair and finished with an amazing berry and red color palette (and glittery mary-jane flats), you’ll swoon. Not to mention a buffet of Miette cakes! Huge thanks to Silvana, my right-hand photo woman for the day. So here’s a personal shout out to R & D – may we continue the 80s/ 90s rockin hip-hop/r&b playlist with this and this – thank you for being a blast! Enjoy this sneak! (more…)

How to be the BEST Maid of Honor, Matron of Honor or Bridesmaid EVER!

Wedding Advice,Wedding Photography — Edyta @ 2:13 PM

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo

So not only was it my bff’s 30th birthday last week (we threw her quite the balloon bash as shown above), but she’s getting married this winter! And yes, the wedding photographer in me knows many of the trends in the whole wedding-hooplah-of-a-world. But I’m a perfectionist that likes exploring my inspirations/ideas. Currently, this maid of honor is planning a west coast & midwest bachelorette bash, I found this well-said article from East Side Bride. I really couldn’t have said it better so I now pass this on to my fellow MOHs and bridesmaid readers! Be the best that you can be :) Feel free to share your advice, ideas and feel-good stories!

Michelle & Jacob’s Real Whimsical SF City Hall and Bar Jules Wedding

Photos: Edyta Szyszlo

Oh my goodness. This wedding is nothing but whimsy delight. Michelle and Jacob shared their big day with just 15 close family and friends. We started at the magical San Francisco City Hall and continued onto Hayes Valley to enjoy a beautiful lunch at Bar Jules. Fresh and local foods, pretty flowers and lots of romantically quirky details made my heart flutter! I expected nothing less from these creative folks ;) I was more than excited to join them in a photo celebration and you will be too. The end of the post has the most charming wedding announcement in the world! Enjoy! (more…)

Happy almost weekend! You remember Kristen and Gene’s Sunday Stroll? Their recent and lovely downtown Chicago wedding was a classic elegance with a hint of retro. Thankfully, the big chance of rain never happened (thanks mother nature!) but the wind gusts took over. But if that was our biggest challenge, fashion wind with a plush veil…well I’ll take it! Super sweet couple with incredible charm! Big thanks to my right-hand photo lady Amy. Enjoy the sneak! (more…)

Hannah & Chris’s Just Married Session Down Memory Lane

As promised, a sneak peek of Hannah & Chris’s just married session! Busy bees planning a wedding and trying to coordinate travel, we decided that instead of an engagement session that a just married session would be just as fabulous! The best part was that it also served as a tour of their favorites spots to hang out growing up. I feel privileged to become invited to share these memories with my couples. Ahhh, the gushies. Alright, enough chat! Follow me to their favorite teen hangout (they both hung out there but didn’t know it!), her father’s labor of love and a popular chit-chat spot for best friends. (more…)

What do you get with a Midwestern couple living in LA and owning a music licensing shop called Ghost Town? FUN! What do you get with a Chicagoland childhood, hanging out in the same circle of friends growing up but not knowing it? Sweet Hannah and Chris love. It may have taken years for them to find each other right under their noses but it seems as if they’ve known each other for a lifetime already. This is a doozy of a sneak peek, so much so that their Just Married session will be a separate feature this week! Also, a big thank you to my right-hand photo woman Jessie. Enjoy this Chicago wedding sneak peek story… (more…)

Good to be back home! Flew in last night from a wedding in the midwest and just in time for a birthday dinner for my Jman. So excited to share Caroline and Andres’s engagement session with you! Thier wedding will be held in wine country so they wanted to change the scenery up a bit! The perfect evening consisted of beautiful murals at Balmy Alley, ice cream at the incredibly yummy Humphry Slocombe and a trip to Andres’s childhood park for some futbol love! Enjoy the sneak peek! And I will enjoy a delightful dinner at Suppenküche (I’m sure you’ve seen this SF german restaurant on the blogs for it’s indie weddings) with family via a sweet gift certificate that some of my clients gave me :) I leave you now with a sneak peek of a sneak peek for what’s to come on the blog soon…
