A new me! Well, not necessarily a new me but a rebirth of my photography services is coming soon! This is just a peek of what’s to come with my new portfolio website and blog! Whoot Whoot! BIG THANKS to Asketic SF & Cheree Berry Paper for making my business cards look and feel like a million bucks! Details: 2×2 inch blush and soft white duplexed paper (super thick maybe #220) with a coral-ish edging, backside warm gray letterpress, front side gold foil stamp goodness of my own signature. YES! What do you think??
What a nice little surprise to start my day off! Our delightful gelato themed bridal shower is featured on Ruffled, yay! Such a pleasure working with the ladies of Enjoy Events Co., Eel & Ermine, La Fleuriste, Wiley Valentine, One True Love Vintage, our makeup artist Alifa and lovely models! We wanted to create a springy, colorful and tasty party for the ‘bride-to-be’ and I think our style shoot did just that. From diy tissue flowers, color dipped wooden spoons, custom paper goods, vivid poppy flowers against the clean, white environment of a vintage San Francisco apartment. Big thanks to Brieanne of Chalk + Dot for letting us crash her dining room! Be sure to check out all the yummy images over at Ruffled here! And you may recognize one of these images from Daily Candy’s Wedding Advice from Our Favorite Bloggers article here, hehe! (more…)
On Tuesday, I had a delightful outing with friends! SF kids are on spring break this week so I decided to give these little ladies a basic lesson in photography while they documented our walk with disposable cameras. Super fun and refreshing! We grabbed lunch while they waited for photos to print then we crafted photo accordion albums for life-long keepsakes! Of course, I had to photograph them as they captured life on our sunny day. It feels like 99.9% of wedding dresses are strapless, am I right? And don’t get me wrong, sometimes a strapless neckline is nice. But I know there are several of you out there that love a fabulously designed dress with sleeves. It’s something different, often more flattering but not the easiest to find. So what’s a gal to do? Loving the look of layers on a wedding day. Romantic, frothy and flowy capelets (also under boleros, shrugs, cover-ups) offer some added coverage with a touch of pretty glam! From couture to handmade, you can’t deny a dreamy accessory! Added bonus? Skip that veil because they add creative texture and movement for your wedding day photos!
Obsessed! I just can’t get enough. White and wood everything. It’s clean, sophisticated with rustic and modern charms. You just can’t go wrong! What I love most is the wood’s warm color and texture against a cool-tone white. These opposites do attract to create timeless decor. I’ve never been one to dream of my own party or wedding…but this could certainly be right up my dreamy alley. You must check out the entire wedding shoot, click on the link above.
Have you read the latest issue of MS Weddings? It’s a good one. Visually stunning as always but what I really love is the expert advice. Seems lately couples and wedding vendors are playing limbo. What to expect, budgets, time management and overall inconsistency only somersaults into a hot mess. Currently, it’s the time of year for major bookings: Save-the-dates, invitations and the photographer. Start off by reading this photo and stationery article. I know hiring a fantastic photographer can be daunting but it doesn’t have to be! Now jots these things down: know why you like their style, know what photo products you must have, know your minimum & maximum spending budget, know the photographer’s price point, when contacting please include as many details as possible, be open an honest with your budget (many of us are flexible if we think we’ll be a good fit), and most importantly…don’t flake out. Respond in a timely manner, if their services are no longer needed please let them know (short & sweet response). Most photographers book on a 1st come 1st serve basis. They are interviewing you just as much as you are them. Happy booking!
Lots of ideas I’m loving these days but playful and action based save the dates and invitations are my absolute favorite right now! Whether it inflates, spins, floats or hangs, your guests will be in awe over the whimsical interaction! The spinning one above is actually a diy project with printable pdfs. Click link above. Tomorrow (March 18) I will not be posting a blog post. We are participating in a blogger day of silence to support Japan, raise awareness and to show respect to those who have lost their lives in this disaster. Life changes in a split second, do what you can to help and be sure to tell your loved ones just how much you love them everyday. For Japan With Love: Donate here.
Not reporting on anything new here, however, posting on some of the successful ways bridesmaids are jazzing their dresses up! Let’s be honest ladies, skin insecurities, do I need to go on? I’m loving the look of bridesmaids wearing tights (even brides!). Some parts of the country, summer may not allow but if you can sheer it’s still doable! It’s just nice having another accessory to spruce/play/glam up an overall wardrobe, am I right? See more of my favs… (more…)
I’m absolutely obsessed with all things opposites these days! Jcrew has spoiled us with looks of military, preppy, hipster mixed with hints of sparkle and glitter. My favorite is when preppy brown meets sparkly glitter! Your bridesmaids would look oh-so lovely in this casual elegance of a style.
My goal is to keep photography and it's community interacting within it's many fields; weddings, portraits, fashion, editorial & design. It's important to learn from one another so please let me know your thoughts and ideas! Please check back often as new topics, discussions, questions, and daily journaling appear.
