The fall 2010 Bridal Market show had some amazing wedding fashions! One of my favs…Melissa Sweet’s Boho Chic Reverie collection featured an amazing straw fedora hat with pretty details. Perfect for a sunny, outdoor ultra low key wedding or that hip short dress. More pics at the link above.

I.heart.the.sash! Brides and bridesmaids have been wearing sashes around their dresses for a while now. Clients have asked me where to find inexpensive sashes (bridal dress shops carry them but many for a hefty price). Sure, you can always sew your own if you’re crafty or even use super wide ribbon (still hard to find). But if you are looking for a unique, multifunctional option this might be it! American Apparel’s sash comes in a variety of colors and fabrics for $16! These are a little bit more casual but hey, get creative!

The fashion runways walked it and the bridal magazines made it official – gray is the new brown for weddings in 2009! While I still love brown and you should too…gray switches the color palette to cooler tones. It’s one of my personal favs :) Even though gray is a cool tone, it doesn’t mean you can’t spice it up! There are a wide variety of color combinations you can chose from but the added bonus with this trend….is that you can mix and match colors that you never thought would go! Brights, pastels, monochromatic – you can’t go wrong. And keep in mind, gray comes in all tones and variations such as a lavender or pewter (adding a touch of purple or blue to it). So think out of the box!! My fav new combo – lavender and red! More color combinations… (more…)

Grooms want to be in style just as much as the bride! Not just another fun detail for wedding photography, but many brides give their grooms cufflinks as a wedding day gift to help spruce up those rental tuxes! Cufflinks aren’t only for elegant, upscale weddings they help your polish your entire look. Think about your attire ahead of time – once you’ve decided whether your event will require a tux or casual suit, cufflinks can be picked out to compliment your personality and attire. I’ve even co-shot a wedding in San Francisco where for the reception the groom put on blue basketball cufflinks and blue retro Nike hightops to match! Plus, if your groom wears suits for work – the cufflinks can be reused! More cufflink ideas… (more…)
