A few months ago, I was asked to be a part of my college’s alumni art exhibition for the new academic year! It had to showcase my professional work for the theme of the new school year so I decided to put a little twist on it. Wedding photography has changed so much in the last several years (less traditional more timeless) that there’s no reason why you can’t showcase your photos in your home! I decided to purchase thrifty frames and update them! Here’s how… (more…)

Amazing couple, amazing weather….AMAZING wedding! I photographed Kristyn and Doug’s wedding for Imaginative Studios and couldn’t have asked for a more fun day! Kristyn and Doug, along with their close family and friends were so sweet and so generous. You could tell that love was in the air and in the incredible blue skies that day! Lots of images to look through – I just couldn’t pick a few! (more…)

Sneak peek time! I traveled to Joplin, Missouri this time for Kassandra and David’s intimate celebration! A bit camera-shy at first, both shared relaxed and calm spirits over the two day wedding. I have to thank them and their families for being such sports during the unpredictable weather and crazy humidity! I didn’t know my eyelids could sweat that much! The wedding photography reflected nothing but joy and kindness towards one another – it was a pleasure to have shared both days with them! (more…)

A 2007 bride of mine shared a link with me last night with this photo! She had a friend who was married in Sweden – they used Erika Gerdemark Photography…while doing some exploring she found some trash the dress photos on the blog! I just had to share this one – it’s stunning! It’s a trend that’s been around for a while and is spreading universally! It’s about being creative and not destroying memories – you’re creating new ones! Most wedding photographers are game for it so don’t hesitate to ask! Check out the official TTD website. I’m sure your dress will be happy to be worn a second time! Check out the rest of the photo session from above at Erika’s Blog.

Once again, thanks for being patient with the shortage of posts! This week is moving week for me so they will be even slimmer :( I promise things will go back normal soon…
I can’t stress enough about how important it is to hire a strong and well-rounded photographer for your wedding day. It’s not unusual to ask a bride how her wedding day went and all she can say is how wonderful it was but it’s all a blur! So many details happen on your precious day mixed in with friends and family, it’s only expected that your memory be a little mixed up!
There are three questions you should ask yourself before hiring a wedding photographer: How much do I want to spend, how do I want to remember my wedding, and how comfortable will you feel with your photographer? (more…)

Take a sneak peek at Traci and Marty’s wedding photography! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I can’t say that enough about Traci and Marty. Held at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Brentwood, TN – you couldn’t have asked for a better day of weather, incredible photography light and the ones they love. Can I just say that when I was prepping for this sneak peek, tears were rolling as I remembered how sweet Traci and Marty were with one another. It makes complete sense why they have such perfect family and friends. Check out some of the wedding photography… (more…)

If you’ve been turning pages in bridal magazines lately or have gone to a friends wedding, you’ve probably seen candles, string lights or paper laterns! (Check out my image in The Knot) Lighting at your ceremony or reception adds a romantic, sensual and fun twist. Wedding photographers love having extra lighting during a dark reception to help give the room a glow without using the harsh overhead lights. These aren’t the easiest products to find and wedding coordinators usually have there sources and buy in bulk. Cultural Intrigue seems to have the best selection, however, it’s wholesale only (sold to licensed retailers only) – see if your wedding coordinator can buy from them. At least you’ll get an idea of what’s out there and what to look for! If you’re not using a wedding coordinator, consult with your venue coordinator about ways to incorporate these types of lights before you purchase.
