Hello all! I’m back in San Francisco and photo production is in full force! Can’t wait to show you the sneak of my wedding in Ohio this past weekend. It’s oh-my goodness :) And speaking of oh-my and goodness…whoopie pies! This classic northeastern dessert is hitting the wedding market fast! We’ve seen a few weddings with this yummy cake dessert (yes, it’s more cake than a cookie or pie), however, this trend is going to replace cupcakes and pies (some wedding cakes even) in 2011! Word on the street is San Francisco’s Susie Cakes has fantastic ones…see more whoopie pies here, here, here, here. Who wouldn’t like sandwich cakes with filling, especially with flavors like red velvet or pumpkin!

Ah, the adults crayon box. Pantone announced their 2010 color of the year! Pantone 15-5519! A little history session for those who are not design-oriented. “In 1963, Lawrence Herbert, Pantone’s founder, created an innovative system for identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches in the graphic arts community. His insight that the spectrum is seen and interpreted differently by each individual led to the innovation of the PANTONE® MATCHING SYSTEM®, a book of standardized color in fan format.”
What this means for you…well, you might see this color more often than not. Similar hues have hit the wedding industry, but I predict this hip color making more of a presence in weddings with other hip colors such as poppy, burnt orange and mustard yellow! Also, I’ve been eyeing the Pantone mugs for the last year after I saw them at Sprout Home but can’t justify the expense :) Would make a good gift! Color on! ps – all pantone dinnerware on sale here.

Amazing!! I’m calling out this trend myself as I’ve seen a couple save the date or wedding invitation videos out there. But this one….this one is superb! With the financial crunch, couple’s are getting a little more inventive with their wedding details. And with the growing popularity of wedding websites, videos seem like a no-brainer. It definitely saves some trees :)

Hope you had a great weekend! While you are reading this, I’m headed out of state for a product photo assignment. I couldn’t leave you hanging all week so I found you some fabulous wedding-related Etsy finds to gawk over (like this eco-friendly napkin holder/bird feeder and table place card). Handmade crafts for weddings equals trend of 2009 for sure. I’ll be out for most of the week but promise to have good things when I come back!
*Any blog posts after this one were scheduled, you’ll know when I’m officially back :) (more…)

A 2007 bride of mine shared a link with me last night with this photo! She had a friend who was married in Sweden – they used Erika Gerdemark Photography…while doing some exploring she found some trash the dress photos on the blog! I just had to share this one – it’s stunning! It’s a trend that’s been around for a while and is spreading universally! It’s about being creative and not destroying memories – you’re creating new ones! Most wedding photographers are game for it so don’t hesitate to ask! Check out the official TTD website. I’m sure your dress will be happy to be worn a second time! Check out the rest of the photo session from above at Erika’s Blog.

Worried what the two of you will say to one another on the big day?! Ceremony vows have come a long way since the traditional ‘I do’s’. I wanted to share a wedding I photographed a while ago in wine country…cutest ceremony vows idea! It was an adorable way to interact with their guests by having their friends and family write the vows… (more…)

The groomsmen from the wedding I photographed in Nashville a couple weekends ago, wore fabric flowers in their boutonnieres, so adorable and sustainable! Check out the post for a close-up of the bout. They actually held up all day unlike real flowers. I loved the idea and after purchasing the recent Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, I noticed that it’s an up and coming trend for weddings! I thought I would share some of Martha’s tips on tissue and flowers as well as her tissue hanging pom-poms. By the way – very eco-friendly! More info: Shaped Crepe Flowers, Pom-Poms and Luminarias, Dulken & Derrick (middle flower photo above, silk flowers). Some are DIY!

Purses that pop! No need to have your purse dyed the color of your dress or carry white! There’s always a few little items that a bride and her bridesmaids need during the wedding day; lip gloss, mirror, blotting tissues and maybe some documentation. While you may not need to carry a purse around all day, it does serve an organization function and provide an extra punch to your dress! Clutches are most popular for weddings and special occassions because they are small and hand-held. The purse above is from BCBG Max Azria – check out more purse ideas! (more…)
