Ladies – you won’t be disappointed with this post – isn’t he handsome?! Bare with me this week as posts will be limited because I’m out of town.
Groom’s wedding attire! So much out there and not enough people chatting about it! A groom’s wedding day attire is just as important as the bride’s – coordinating it can be a bit difficult with several choices, fittings, and styles. The three questions you should ask yourself when planning – What’s my style? Location of wedding? What time of year is the wedding? Same for brides. We’ll take a look at options and give you some advice along the way…. (more…)

Spring weddings are under way and so is the heat and sun! Planning an outdoor wedding? A romantic way to beat the sun and help your guests stay cool is a parasol! Have a basket or container hold the parasols near the ceremony seats where guests can help themselves. Plus, if you want they make cute favors! I love how adding an accessory to your wedding day provides an extra touch of personality in the photographs. My favs can be found at The Asian Import, but they can be a little pricey. The cheapest I’ve seen are at Oriental Trading. For a personal touch, monogram your parasol.

Time to plan some hair dos! Wedding hairstyles should be classic, playful, sexy, timeless and MOST importantly….comfortable! The more comfortable you are with your appearance the better the photographs turn out! Guaranteed! It’s important to plan a hair strategy when organizing your wedding plans. Check out all the pictures of hairstyles you can (until it makes you sick) because as for many – the hair sets the mood. And most importantly – check with your hair stylist to see if it works for you – always leave it to the pros. If you plan on doing it yourself – practice, practice, practice…can’t say that enough. I’ve included several of my fav hairstyles within this posting along with some of the runway trends this year. Check it out! (more…)

The Knot’s 10 Hot Wedding Trends for 2010!

Great news! After a phone call from a friend, I found out that one of my images is published in the newest issue of The Knot magazine. This is a special issue as it’s the ‘best of 2008′, where it sums up the best wedding vendors around the country. They also include the ‘best of your local area’ voted by real brides so you can see the ratings for vendors in your area. My image is featured as a ‘trend alert’ for art gallery reception venues located in the midwest; The Randall Gallery in St. Louis. The particular wedding that the image came from is Tom and Sam’s wedding, which was also published in The Knot Missouri/Kansas 2007 issue. I have only done 2 weddings in the St. Louis area (Stephanie & Jim) but they seem to be a huge success!
The issue is on stands now until October!

Aren’t those favor boxes adorable?! I was in Paper Source (Chicago) a few days ago purchasing more envelopes and paper for my photo info packets and came across these super cute pillow boxes! Paper Source one of the cutest stores for anything related to paper. I thought these would be great to add candy or special momentos for your wedding guests, not to mention a creative way to decorate your tabletops! What a way to bring vibrant color and design sense. Boxes seen above are called “pillow boxes”, “take out boxes”. They have a couple more styles like pyramids and flip envelopes that could work too. Check out my post about wedding favor ideas too! If you can’t find a Paper Source location in your area, shop online!

I love love love flowers (especially peonies)! They are my favorite detail to photograph at weddings (as you can see in the 3 flower collages!) and give off such an aura about the overall day. Recently, a read a little tid bit about the brides bouquet…the brides make-up for the day should match her bouquet style. I would love to hear what make-up artists think about this idea! Essentially, the style of your bouquet (dramatic, romantic, flirty, natural, etc) says a lot about who you are and what you are portraying on your wedding day, so it makes total sense that it could compliment your make-up, such as your lip gloss or eye shadow. New trend of 2008?! (more…)

Every so often I get asked by brides or other wedding vendors what makes a wedding unique (or stand out) to me. It was always hard to answer because weddings tend to follow a normal routine but every wedding is beautiful in it’s own way. However, I can say one thing (and I’m sure most vendors agree) that when the bride & groom add personal touches to shine who they are as a couple, it creates some of the strongest memories from the day! Wedding favors are one of the best ways to say THANK YOU to your friends and family in a personal way! (more…)
