2009 was a HUGE year for wedding trends especially for the hip, indie bride! Not only did the diy train take-off later in the year, but I think the handmade artisans and crafters led the whole way! I’m definitely one of ‘their’ biggest fans and supporters. Indie artisans keep on rocking into 2010 and beyond! Check out the rest of the favorite indie artisans here. Please include your favorites in the comments, let’s share and mingle!
ps – come see me at the first ever Indie Wed on Jan. 30th in Chicago! If all goes well, maybe it will make it’s way to San Francisco soon!
One of my favorite San Francisco florists, Nancy Liu Chin Designs shares 2009 wedding flower trends here. Also, Nancy will be posting the types of flowers available for each month of the year, May here. Brown Bag is her blog, btw :) Shout out to KC!
My friend, Lindsay, told me about a friend of hers getting married soon and the fabulous gift she got them from their honeymoon registry! The trend in budget-friendly honeymoon options is on the rise. With many couples co-habituating before marriage, why not have your guests conveniently help pay for that dream honeymoon of yours?! You’ve got most of your housewares anyway :) Sign up here.
Phindy Studios – amazing photos of this wedding! Now, on to the bridesmaid attire here. Wow, I’m always looking to find refreshing bridesmaid dress ideas and honestly, they are hard to come by! The dress is always popular, but I love the pencil skirt, bright colored sash and shirt. So fun, flirty and classy! The 2009 bridesmaid dress trend is all about the cocktail, ‘night out’ style. Giving your bridesmaid’s the ability to rewear pieces even better! Check out the rest of the post by clicking the TBC link above.
I don’t know if this post’s inspiration came from the delicious veggie burrito I had last night or what?! Yummy! But the trend reports conquer! 2009 is all about the tangy, spicy, savory, exotic tastiness of your wedding cocktail hors d’oeuvres. So watch out crab cakes and mini burgers – bold sippy soups, chilled tofu, and asian-infused wraps are fighting for the platters carried by the server’s hands! (more…)
Said to be a new trend (although this idea has been used many times before), lets just say it’s said to be more popular in weddings in 2009. I’m a believer in using your local harvest and resources…mix it with a small wedding budget, and you have incredible food and decor! Vegetables and fruits in bouquets, centerpieces and favors add a rustic feeling to the decor. From your own garden to farm stand finds – the fruits of our labor is the way to go! The images are from Susan & Steven’s upstate NY wedding featured in Martha Stewart – amazing and simple details. (more…)
Girls – you know how a cute pair of shoes makes you feel! Aren’t these so fabulous!? After doing much research on shoe trends for weddings in 2009, this is what I’ve concluded: color, textures, gems, folds/twists, bows, jewels and shiny metallics. Height is totally up to your comfort but out of the ordinary is totally in! (more…)
